Langs Beach Northland

Carl was engaged in 2021 to design a terraced orchard and market garden on a peninsula near Langs Beach (a rather picturesque location overlooking the pacific ocean and an ideal spot for the lodge / restaurant these gardens will eventually serve).

Extensive retaining and terracing has created ease of access for over 120 (Northland suitable) fruit trees, all planted using organic inputs by the team at Carl Pickens Landscapes. Drainage lines were also installed across terraces to help fruit trees thrive (aka mitigate the effect of wet clay in winter).

The lower flats are being converted to annual vegetable gardens with adjacent propagation facilities and a packing shed. Irrigation by way of a bore has been installed to ensure water can be delivered to plants when needed.
